I have a deep desire for connection, I love kindness and compassion and I get great joy from giving. In my mid-twenties I volunteered in Nepal as a photographer on a life-changing expedition. Where 80 young Australians aged between 16 -24 volunteered in remote areas for 2 months on varying projects including medical and eye clinics, leprosy hospitals, animal nature studies and teaching in schools – my role was to record and document. So I was lucky enough to travel wide and far and met lots of incredible people who have become lifelong friends. This was followed by a similar trip to Papua New Guinea and again back to Nepal in 2019. With each trip I grew, opening my heart and broadening my mind, learning about the world and our differences. Working and travelling with like-minded people, meeting strong, resilient and adaptable people has made me a better person. From the locals, I’ve lived and worked with in rural villages to the children I shared time with during remote homestays. Volunteering has introduced me to the most inspiring and enriching people and personal strengths I never knew possible it’s definitely been the most rewarding form of travel.
My creativity overflows when I’m living in heart space – my jewellery designs and paintings are all inspired by what feed my soul and brings me joy. Nature, connection and travel. xx Jodie
