‘Family Love Meerkats’

This painting holds a special significance as it was created during a very challenging time when my father was ill. The process of painting provided me with solace and a much-needed escape from the sadness surrounding my father’s imminent passing. For me, meerkats symbolise family, love, support, and responsibility, mirroring the role my two brothers and I played, with me overseas keeping watch and updating the family back home as we emotionally supported each other from afar.  My dad was able to see the progression of this painting through the photos I shared with him daily in the hospital, which brought him much joy.
