‘Slipping Away’

Painted with intense, deep emotion and heartfelt connection, my recent and most vulnerable, beautiful experience is captured in this artwork. It reflects the weeks I spent sitting beside my father’s hospital bed in Bangkok as he slowly slipped away. The sounds of the machines monitoring his body, his struggles to breathe, the sadness we shared of time running out, the numbness encroaching on us as we held hands til our end. Sharing the precious unforgettable moments of intimacy, joy and gratitude are depicted in the painting as the splashes of Gold.

After returning home to Australia following his funeral, I woke up one morning feeling overwhelmed by grief. I realized that I hadn’t had the space to process some of my emotions. To cry and let more out – I needed to painted with no expectations, no intentions, for no one but me, no direction, simply allowing myself to feel and reflect. As I sobbed, memories of my life, both the good and not so good, flooded my mind. This painting is my heart’s journaling, my hearts thank you and goodbye to my father. RIP Dad I love you and miss you  xx
