STERLING SILVER: Our Sterling Silver pieces come with the .925 stamp so you can be sure you are buying genuine solid .925 sterling silver. Sterling Silver will tarnish over time, however, it will happen much faster when it comes into contact with perfume, body products, perspiration, hairspray, pollution, chlorine, seawater, and acidic skin. Humid and hot conditions can also cause metals to tarnish faster. The amount of tarnishing that occurs is dependent on the skin and care habits of the wearer, always remove before swimming or bathing in tubs with bath product.
You can care for your silver pieces by keeping them in a soft pouch and inside a small zip lock bag for added protection when not being worn, keep it away from other metals that may scratch or cause tarnishing. Use our polishing cloths or jewellery dip when required to enhance the shine of your product.
Please avoid the use of silver paste as it can contain harsh chemicals that may damage the metals as well as the protective lacquer or remove the purposeful oxidisation unique to some of our designs. Our Oxidised finished jewellery, should not be dipped into solution as this may strip the oxidisation which is part of the design – we suggest you use the Polishing cloth for these pieces.
ROSE GOLD / GOLD: Our Gold and Rose Gold jewellery is plated with 2-micron plating over solid Sterling Silver. Gold and rose gold plated pieces should be cleaned very gently with a dry soft polishing cloth and can be washed in warm water to preserve their shine.
WOOD: We do not recommend allowing your wood pieces to get wet as the wood will swell. The natural colour of the wood will develop and change over time, along with contact with body oils and general wear leaving it continually unique.
LEATHER: Leather and water are best avoided, we suggest removing your leather bracelets or necklaces before showering and swimming. Water causes leather to rot and weaken and will therefore lead to damage.
Our In-Leatherz leather handbags have a soft hand feel and are intended to age and soften further with wear. Crushed, matte and rough finishes are intentional giving the leather a distinctive look. Slight variations in colour, grain and texture are all part of leather’s unique characteristics. The leather has been treated with a protective coating to help resist stains. Over time with use, these coatings may break down. We recommend you treat the leather with care and if applying any conditioner or protective sprays please test them first in a hidden spot.
We recommend that most leather products are protected before wearing. A waterproof spray can be used to repel water, and preserve and protect leather, suede and Nubuck products. We do not recommend the use of Water proofer on metallics, patents and box leathers. These are protected leathers that have a covering or film applied to the leather to create a special finish.
Leather Dew Cream is designed to protect and nourish leather products. Please test the Leather Dew on a small, unnoticeable part of the leather before applying. The Leather Dew cannot be used on any suede, nubuck or metallic leathers.
Most leather cleaners are specialised depending on the type of leather. These can be purchased from your local shoe repairer who can assist you. Remove fingerprints or marks with the Gabee Leather Dew to polish patent leather products.
Leather will stretch over time. Wallets have a number of credit card pockets that are designed to hold ONE card only. Storing more than one card per pocket may cause the leather to overstretch which could result in cards falling out. Likewise, if your handbag is overloaded with extremely heavy items it will stretch too.
Candle Burning Tips
Safety precautions when burning your candle:
Wood Wicks
Just like us, wood wicks can be temperamental and each one is unique. All of our double wood wicks are made with a natural and untreated wood and can vary slightly in their thickness and grain. This will cause every Mojo Candle Co. Brew Candle to burn a little bit differently.
Why use wood wicks?
Despite these variances, wood wicks provide a more unique burning experience than a traditional cotton wick like with our Mojo Wine Bottle Candles. Who doesn’t love a good crackling fire? Well, similarly, double wood wicks make a pleasant, soft crackling sound!
But it keeps going out! Why won’t my wood wick light?
No worries! This can be an issue on the rare occasion with wood wick candles and can easily be resolved.
If you are experiencing a wood wick’s flame that dwindles, flickers or burns out – you may be experiencing the wood wick reaching a knot or discrepancy in the timber. These flaws aren’t always visible and can cause the wax to be less effectively drawn through the grain of the wooden wick.
So, how do I fix it?
In a standard lighting situation, wood wicks can take a few goes to get started but once lit, should burn beautifully. We had this happen to one of our many, many tester wood wick candles in our showroom which took about 8 goes for the first light to ignite the wood wick. Each subsequent burn was perfect and accepted the flame straight away. So sometimes persistence will pay off for those rare few candles which can be hesitant to ignite on their first-time burn!
But, if you’re still having trouble, trim your wick!
This is one of the absolute best tips we can give! Wood wicks need to be short and trimming can also get you past any knots in the wood giving you grief in staying lit. Trim all of the burnt pieces off – wick trimmers are the easiest way to trim wicks and prevent the burnt debris from blackening your fingers or surroundings.
For relighting, tip the candle and relight it at an angle. This will allow the flame to slowly reach across the wick.
